APC CONDEMNS THE KILLINGS AND VIOLENCE IN PLATINUM MINES IN RUSTENBURG

APC condemns the killings and violence in the platinum mines around Rustenburg and calls for industrial peace.

 

The African People’s Convention condemns in strongest possible terms the killings of a mineworker yesterday in Lonmin’s Western Platinum mine. APC sends its deepest condolences to his family and fellow workers and calls for the immediate arrest of those responsible without delay.

 

The APC is calling on workers and local residents to remain calm and prevent further violence and death.

 

APC condemns violence and intimidation of mineworkers from any quarter and support tolerance and the principle of freedom of association, especially for the working class.

 

The APC calls for industrial peace and calmness in the platinum mines around Rustenburg and further calls on all stake holders in this sector especially AMCU, NUM and Lonmin to go back to the negotiating table and resolve their differences in a peaceful manner in the best interest of their members and the general workers.
